DROUGHT RELIEF

We understand that sometimes a
little extra support is needed during
pressure points of our lives.

People living in drought impacted areas, in need of extra support for anxiety and depression, are eligible for FREE counselling services.

The Program

Empowering our Communities: Strengthening Family and Community Resilience in Drought Affected Areas.

Eligibility

All people who live or work in drought affected communities within:

  • Goondiwindi Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Southern Downs Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Western Downs Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Somerset Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Toowoomba Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council Local Government Area
  • South Burnett Regional Council Local Government Area
  • Scenic Rim Local Government Area.

To ensure ease of access to the service individuals will be able to access this service via self-referral, GP referral or other service provider referrals.

Funding for this program has been made available by the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN.

Flexible Service Delivery Options

There's no need to travel. Services are readily available via online, phone and face to face depending on the needs of the patient.

There will be no cost for these counselling sessions.

Lessons learned during COVID-19

Interestingly, online and phone supports made available during COVID-19 resulted in 0%DNA for CatholicCare Counselling Services, as all barriers to accessibility were removed.
