Since 1911 International Women’s Day has been celebrated to draw awareness to the possibilities of being female. This year, the 8th of March 2017, marked the Celebration of wives, mothers, sisters, mentors and friends. All over the world Countries, Organisations and individuals spread the word about empowering women to accomplish great things by looking at both the past and the future. In our own local town of Toowoomba women gathered at the beautiful Indonesian restaurant, Skewers, to celebrate the global economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women everywhere. Hannah, Philicia, Morgen and Sonia from our CatholicCare team were all able to attend this event and soak up the enthusiasm. More details from the event can be found on The Chronicles website.
As Helen Reddy sang,
‘I am women, hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore, and I know too much to go back and pretend.’
